The selected photo will not open
First confirm that the file opens in your device’s normal photo viewer. If it is only a cloud placeholder, download the original to the device before selecting it. Try a known local JPEG as a comparison. This separates a problem with one file from a problem with the browser or file picker.
PhotoID Studio attempts to convert HEIC and HEIF files locally when you select them. Conversion may take longer than opening a JPEG, and not every file variation will decode successfully. If the same HEIC file repeatedly fails, export a JPEG copy from a photo application and use that copy. Simply renaming .heic to .jpg does not convert the image.
Apple documents exporting HEIF photos to JPEG or PNG in Photos or Preview on a Mac. Its Most Compatible camera option changes the format of new captures; it does not convert photographs already in your library. Preserve the original when making a compatibility copy.
The face looks soft after cropping
Compare the original and the downloaded photo at a similar viewing size. A large preview can make a small output look softer than it will at its intended print size. However, motion blur and a low-resolution source remain real limitations. If the original is already soft, use a sharper capture rather than repeatedly exporting it.
Check whether you started with a messaging thumbnail or screenshot, and whether you have zoomed in so far that only a small part of the original remains. Reloading the original is more useful than enlarging a previously exported crop. The editor resizes pixels; it cannot reconstruct detail that was never captured.
The crop is sideways, off-centre or has empty edges
If the photo is sideways, rotate it in your device’s photo app and load it again; the editor’s rotation slider is for small tilt corrections. Select the final preset, make small zoom changes and drag the picture back into position. Check all four corners after rotating: the image may no longer cover the entire rectangle. Use the reset control if you have lost track of the adjustments, then work through orientation, zoom and position again.
A new canvas background colour cannot remove an existing wall from an opaque JPEG. If the background still looks the same, that is expected. Exposed borders indicate an area outside the source image, and filling them does not fix a photograph taken against an unsuitable backdrop. Retake it when the application’s instructions require a different background.
The camera or download does not appear
For camera capture, check the browser’s permission for this site and whether another app is using the camera. If permission is unavailable, take a photograph with your normal camera app and upload that file. Opening the site directly in your main browser can also avoid restrictions imposed by an embedded browser inside another app.
After downloading, check the browser’s downloads list and your device’s Files or Downloads folder. Saving a file does not always add it to the photo library. On supported Apple devices, use the photo-specific share/save control to choose a destination; when a preview opens instead, use its save option. The page-share button in the header shares the website link, not your photo.
Report the failing step without sending your portrait
If the problem remains, note the browser and device, file extension, approximate file size, chosen preset, exact error and the last action that worked. Tell the operator whether a different JPEG also fails. Start with these details instead of emailing a personal photograph; they are often enough to reproduce a file-picker or export problem.
